What if I lose my job? What if the money runs out before the month does? What if my kids make the wrong choices? What if the doctor calls with bad news? Fear of the future usually shows up late at night, when the house is quiet and your mind will not stop running ahead to things that have not even happened yet.
If that sounds like you, you are not alone. Every one of us faces questions about money, health, relationships, and what tomorrow will bring. The good news is that God does not leave us to face tomorrow by ourselves. He holds it, and He invites us to rest in Him today.
"But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm." (Proverbs 1:33, NIV)
In the New Walk message "Uncover the Bible's Secret to Fearless Living" (watch it here), Pastor Rob Nieves taught from Proverbs 1 and named the things that keep so many of us up at night: money, the future, relationships, and health. Then he said it simply: "A life without fear is a life that starts with wisdom."
Not the wisdom of the latest headline or the loudest opinion, but the wisdom that comes from God. "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction" (Proverbs 1:7, NIV). That kind of fear is not terror. It is a deep reverence and trust that says, "God, You know better than I do, and I will follow You."
Pastor Rob also reminded us what to do when obeying God feels hard or risky: "You obey God and you leave the consequences to Him." That is where courage comes from. "The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion" (Proverbs 28:1, NIV).
Think about a storm. You are not afraid of the rain when you have a strong roof over your head. In the same message Pastor Rob put it this way: "Wisdom is simply your shelter." When you build your choices on God's Word, you are already under cover before the storm comes.
Jesus said, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" (Matthew 6:34, NIV). He does not ask us to pretend tomorrow does not matter. He asks us to trust the Father who already stands in it.
As an Assemblies of God church, New Walk holds to the 16 Fundamental Truths. Fundamental Truth 14, The Millennial Reign of Christ, teaches that "the second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints, which is our blessed hope, followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for one thousand years." It also says this reign will bring "the establishment of universal peace."
That means history is not spinning out of control. It is moving toward the day when Jesus reigns and fear is finally gone. The prophet Micah described it beautifully: "Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken" (Micah 4:4, NIV). If God has the end of the story in His hands, He can surely hold your next week.
1. Ask God for wisdom first. Before you make your next big decision, stop and pray. "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" (James 1:5, NIV). Then open your Bible. Proverbs has 31 chapters, one for each day of the month, which makes it a great place to start.
2. Put today first. Write down the fears about the future that keep circling in your mind. Pray over each one and hand it to God. Then ask, "What is one faithful thing I can do today?" and do that. "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33, NIV).
3. Speak God's promise over your tomorrow. When fear rises, say out loud, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10, NIV). Share that verse with a friend who is worried too.
Father, You know every what if that keeps me awake at night. I give You my worries about money, my health, my family, and my future. Teach me Your wisdom and help me trust You enough to obey, even when I cannot see what comes next. Thank You that my times are in Your hands and that Jesus is coming again to reign in peace. If I have never given my life to You, I do that now. I turn from my sin, I believe Jesus died for me and rose again, and I receive Him as my Savior and Lord. Fill me with Your peace today. In Jesus' name, amen.

1. Pídele sabiduría a Dios primero.
